Burford Partnership
The Burford Partnership of Schools and Transition to Secondary School
To ensure the move to secondary school is smooth and enjoyable, Bampton Primary School continues to work closely with our partnership school Burford Secondary School. Burford organise enrichment days to which all of our year 5 children are invited and senior leaders come and talk to parents of year 5 pupils. Since Oxfordshire County Council made changes to the free bus entitlement for Y7 pupils we are also working with Carterton Community College who offer transition days for those pupils moving to their school. We have also worked with other local secondary schools on a smooth transition package if parents have selected an alternative school for Y7.
Bampton Primary School works in close partnership with Burford Secondary and eight local primary schools. This strong Partnership exists to develop curriculum, cultural and sporting links as well as provide professional development opportunities for our staff.
The Headteachers from the Burford Partnership of schools meet regularly. The subject leaders from the Partnership schools also meet regularly to share good practice and to moderate assessments. There is a programme of activities for children in KS2 to support the transition process. The Burford Partnership also organise a range of PE festivals and tournaments for children of all ages to participate in.
For those children with Special Educational Needs or disabilities we liaise with the SENCo from the secondary schools in order to support a smooth transition that supports provision to meet their needs.
