Assessment is useful to measure attainment and progress but it is most effective when it is used to inform future planning. Staff use a range of assessment tools to check children's understanding as part of classroom practice.
Summative assessments that measure children's attainment and progress are used at specific points throughout the school year and recorded on our school tracking system.
We use summative assessments for children in Y1-Y6 three times a year.
Phonics is assessed every 6 weeks through Read, Write Inc assessments and each half-term for Y1 children using Phonic Screening Check materials.
Times Tables Rock Stars assessments are used to assess progress towards Y4 Multiplication Check
Statutory assessments (those set by the government) are:
Children at the end of Foundation Stage are assessed against the End of Foundation Stage statements (Early Learning Goals).
Phonics Screening Check for Y1 children during June and any Y2 children who did not pass this in Year 1
Multiplication Tables Check in Y4 during June
