Physical Education (PE)

We have maintain the Gold School Games Mark for commitment and engagement in School Games.

Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)

Children in Y1- Y6 have a 15 minute play time in the morning and a 30- 40 minute lunchtime play. During play times children are encouraged to be active. Sports and games equipment is available and daily games are provided in the Smooga pitch. Games markings are painted on the front playground which support active play including and active trail, hopscotch and twister.

As an OPAL school we are continually investing in developing positive and enriching play experiences for our children. The grounds consist of two playgrounds and surrounding grassed areas, a large playing field and a small wooded copse as well as a planted wild area for exploring. There is a large mud kitchen and digging pit, a jumping zone with large cable reels. At playtimes a range of loose parts are available for children to engage with creatively, including: Pallets, crates, den building resources and tyres. Dressing up and seasonal activity items (such as chalk) are halos made available.

Physical Education

At Bampton, Physical Education (PE) supports children’s all-round development. As well as developing physical skills, PE teaches the children intellectual skills, helps them navigate complex social situations, and nurtures their emotional development.

We use the School Games Values of determination, passion, respect, honesty, self-belief and teamwork to underpin the PE curriculum as well as encouraging a lifetime love of sport and keeping fit.

We engage with and take part in Burford Partnership tournaments and festivals across all phases and stages to promote fair play, competitive team sport and building relationships with other schools across the partnership.

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.’
