Computing

Information Technology is an important aid to learning throughout the Primary age range. It is used to support teaching and learning across the curriculum as well as for the teachers’ and school’s administration purposes. We aim to give pupils opportunities to develop and apply Information Technology skills in all subjects and have confidence to achieve well in this subject.

The Place of Computing in the Curriculum

We teach computing using the Kapow scheme of work which meets National Curriculum expectations. Provision is also made for purposeful cross-curricular work using a range of technology.

Teaching children how to stay safe online is an important part of our computing curriculum and links with our PSHE curriculum. Each year we use Safer Internet Day to focus on the theme for the year and reinforce key online safety messages. It is important that Parents and Carers also know how to keep their children safe online. There are further links to resources on our Parents Page but below are some documents which may be helpful.

You can report online abuse via this link https://www.ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/

CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) is supported by experienced Child Protection Advisors who can ensure children get the right support they need.
